Simple Eye Make-up Look ft. Urban Decay Naked Basics

Hey my pretty berries,

I just posted up a new video on my channel!! I would really love it if you can all check it out and show some support for your gal over here =)

It’s a really simple eye look for those who doesn’t have a lot of time getting ready or if you’re someone that is just starting with make up because it’s so easy you can literally get this done in 5 minutes or less. Obviously, I took longer because I wanted to be really precise and specific with the tutorial but if I’m in a rush I can do this real fast!

I hope you all enjoy it and please like and subscribe to see more videos in the future.

Until next time,

Hello my pretty berries,

This is it my first monthly favorites for 2015 (duh it’s on January…)! I am so excited to be doing this because I love reading and watching other people’s monthly favorites and here I am posting mine to share with all of you.

Once again, I am doing a blog post plus Youtube video for my January Favorites so I would truly appreciate it if you can check out my channel if you like to watch me chit chat =)

Let me tell you, I bow down to all those people that make it look so effortless and easy. I had to take the week off from all the posting and filming because I was so unorganized and all over the place that I need to pause and get myself together. So now I’m back with a better scheduling plan and deadlines that I hope I can actually commit to. Let me know if you share the same struggle as me. =P

Anyways, let’s get back to business! Below are the products that I have been loving this month and some are actually products that I’ve used for more than a month. My last favourites post was back in October so since then I have discovered new things.

Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1

So before we go any further, you will realize that I am very much focused on moisturizing anything that is dry and reviving my dull, lifeless looking skin. Of course, any lipbalm would probably work but I specifically reach for my Kiehl’s Lipbalm because it’s very moisturizing and not sticky. I feel like it’s the one I need for some intense moisture treatment without having that heavy and sticky feel of a lipbalm

E.L.F.  Mineral Lip Tint – Guava

The E.L.F. Mineral Lip Tint is my daytime lipbalm because of the extra pop of color! It has the same exact texture and feel as my Kiehl’s lipbalm but the only difference is the price and this one obviously gives me a slight tint on the lips. I really want to get all the shades that they have online!

E.L.F. Baked Blush – Pinktastic

They categorized this as a blush but I think it’s too sheer and too reflective for a blush so I just used it as a highlight which works amazingly. It blends easily and melts with the rest of my face make-up  like nobody’s business. It’s great for the gloomy days where you really need to look more glowy and alive (unlike the horrible cold weather).

Physician’s Formula Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trio

This is probably the best drugstore purchase I’ve ever done because the quality is very much comparable to high-end eyeliners and I’m just a fan of anything that twists up. Not to mention they’re so pigmented and it glides nicely on the eye area without tugging or pulling; you don’t want them premature wrinkles!!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick – Outlaw

I know this is a rare moment for me to even choose just one lip favorite since I do love my lippies but I managed to pick one that I have been rocking all month long and that is the Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in the shade outlaw. It’s so long lasting and it doesn’t dry out my lips either.

Pantene Silk Moisture Whip

It’s pretty much a leave-in conditioner and protectant for the hair. It smells great and my hair has never felt softer since I’ve found this baby. If there is one thing that you’re thinking of trying out then I say you go run to the nearest drugstore and get your hand on this. Just a heads up, it dispenses just like a whip cream container and you got to shake it everytime you have to use it to properly deposit the product.

Nume White Truffle Hair Primer

This came with my Nume Lustrum Set that I got a couple months ago and I use to this alternatively with my Pantene Silk Moisture Whip mainly because I don’t want to run out of it and it’s kind of pricey if I just purchase it on the Nume website. It’s more of an oil rather than a creamy whipped texture but it does work the same although I’ve learned that it performs better if I put it on wet hair and then blow dry it rather than applying it when my hair is already dry. I just don’t think the oil gets absorb as well as when my hair is dried already.

Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream

Sticking with the whole moisturizing topic, The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream has been nothing but good to me especially for those cold spells that we’ve been having here. So far it hasn’t broken me out nor has it irritated my skin which is a big thing when it comes to face moisturizers. I use only Cetaphil for years and I do still use it but I just wanted to try something new and I can be more happier that I stumbled upon this moisture cream. The vitamin e also acts a a barrier for the skin that helps with looking youthful and brighter.

Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil

Yes yes I know this is such an expensive product and some people would probably not want to splurge for a bottle of oil and I got to say you can probably find a cheaper Argan Oil somewhere else but I  just happened to have this one. I only use this for special events or rougher skin days where I really want to get that really soft and moisturized skin. Sometimes, I use it for the rest of my body and it gives me the most luminous, “Victoria Secret-esque” glow.

The Body Shop Shea Body Butter

Oh my goodness, you have to see my Youtube video to see for yourself how much I have used this body butter. Seriously, the entire month of January I only used this and nothing else and I am almost done with it. I think I want to get the larger tub that you can get from the Body Shop just to stock up but the smart buyer in me just wants to wait for a really good sale to come up at The Body Shop. The scent of it is so settle and not overpowering at! The Shea Butter doesn’t irritate my skin as well so that’s always a bonus.

Brush Guards

I don’t know how I washed my make up brushes before without these brush guards. It just makes a world of a difference with re-shaping my make up brushes and helping them stay right up when it’s drying.

Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Lotion – Evelyn Rose

Not much to say about this but it has not left my purse when I go out and stays by my bedside when I’m just home. That should be enough to tell you how much I love this lotion mainly because it smells good and yes it is moisturizing too (I feel so repetitive…)

Sephora Daily Brush Cleaner

Aside from focusing on moisturizing my face and body this month, I have also been busy being a germaphobe. Therefore, I need to have a spot cleaner to clean my make up brushes in between uses and sometimes I would actually spray alcohol on the bristles of my brushes (i know it can dry out brushes but I can’t help it) when I remember. I do think that everyone should be spot cleaning their make-up tools since it is what you always use on the face and it absorbs the oil and dirt the most.

Michael Kors Perfume – Sexy Rio De Janeiro

Lastly, my current favorite scent is this sexy Rio De Janeiro perfume by Michael Kors. It’s potent and a little goes a long way. Also, it has this musky scent that I don’t typically go for but this one has a more feminine touch to it that I just cant quite explain but I like it is all that matter right?

Oh my goodness, if you are still with me please like this blog because this is superrr long and I appreciate you reaching it all the way to the end. Also, I just want to thank you all those that have been supporting me on my blog and Youtube journey and I truly appreciate all those who subscribed to me and followed me =) and for those of you who haven’t done those yet then what else are you waiting for!!?!?!? follow me to see more amazing videos and blog posts!

Until next time my beautiful little berries,

Joy ❤

Current Foundation Routine 2015

Hello my pretty berries,

This is my first ever foundation routine to put up on my blog and I am so excited to be doing this. I am in no way a professional make-up artist but this is the method and steps that I take to put on my foundation. I think it works well and I have been doing the same routine for a while although I do like to change it up once in a while depending on my skin and my mood.

I hope you all enjoy this post and let me know what you would like to see me post next. Also, here is a link to my Youtube Channel where I did show exactly how I did my Foundation Routine so you can check that out as well!

The very first thing I do is apply a face primer and right now I am obsessing with the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. It covers my pores and smoothes the entire face which creates this perfect canvas to work with. I focus the product mainly on the centre of my face and work my way outwards while slightly pressing the product on my face rather than wiping.2268948

Next, I take my foundation and right now I’m using the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation in the shade 4.0. It claims to be a weightless ultra definition  liquid make-up which is pretty accurate. It’s the perfect match for me at the moment and it doesn’t dry out my face. The foundation has a dewy finish which I love since I have very dry skin and I can use the extra moisture and glow from the foundation. Nobody wants to look dull! Let me know if you would like to see a more in-depth review of this product and I will go ahead and do that=)

Going forward, I typically use a stippling brush for my foundation for a lighter application but I sometimes use a wet sponge that I bought from Quo Cosmetics (it’s kind of like the beauty blender). It really depends on how I feel that day. Today, I used the Quo Foundation Sponge to apply my foundation.

At this point, I conceal my blemishes and under eye area. For that, I have been using the Revlon Blemish Concealer in the shade light/medium Then, I continue to use my Urban Decay Concealer stick in the shade “FBI” for the blemishes, dark spots or old scars. As for my under eyes, I use my NYX Full coverage concealer and lightly pat it under my dark circles =( blehhd_18462

Once everything is even then I take a translucent powder and the one I have been using lately is the ELF HD Powder. I use fluffy brush that I got from Icing and lightly pat it all over my face and neck. I swear this stuff keeps me shine free for hours without clinging on any of my dry areas. 20150114_215558

Then, I will finish up the rest of my face: bronzer,blush,etc..

The Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer

The Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer

The very last thing that I do is use a facial spray to set everything in place. I am loving the Urban Decay All Nighter Make-up setting spray. Remember to keep it at least 10 inches away from your face to properly diffuse the product and allow it to fully dry before touching your face because that may ruin your make-up.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Review

Hello my pretty berries,

Today, I will be doing a in-depth review of the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. I do have the original one and have had it for a couple months now. I did want to use it enough in order for me to give you my full honest opinion on the product.

So I did purchase it myself and it retails for C$34.00, which is a great price for the amount of eyeshadows you get. I did mention it on my October 2014 Favourites and since then I haven’t stopped using it.

I find myself always reaching for this mini palette whenever I want a simple eye look or to mix with my other eyeshadow palettes. It is just so great with blending and as a transition colour and I don’t even think I can live without it.

It’s also great for travelling if you just want to pack light. It comes in 6 shades (5 matte and 1 shimmer) that are all very wearable whether your just starting out with make-up or very experienced.

Here are the colour swatches and let me just tell you that these are one of the smoothest, creamiest, most pigmented and long lasting eyeshadows ever! If anyone’s wondering, it does have the same consistency and quality as the Urban Decay Naked Original Palette and it does compliment each other.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

In conclusion, I would recommend it  without any hesitation and I truly think that it is worth the money especially when you know you can use it for almost any kind of look. Let me know in the comments below if you love this palette too or if you are planning in getting one.

I give it 10/10 berries =) and until next time…don’t forget to comment and like!

Sephora Haul

Hi my pretty berries,

I went to Sephora a couple days ago and I thought I would do a quick haul for you. I caved in and bought some things from there but not much.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick – Outlaw

I’ve always been wanting to try the Kat Von D Lip products and I got so excited when I swatched this on my hand in the store. It is extremely pigmented and they weren’t kidding when they said that it’s long lasting. I will update date you more once I get more use out of it and probably do a more detailed product review.

brush cleanerSephora Daily Brush Cleaner

I re-stocked my daily brush cleanser because I was running out and the germaphobe in me cannot live without these stuff. It works for day-to-day use (as the name goes) just so it gets rid of the residue from the make-up brushes.

Sephora Machine Konjac Sponge Duo – Polish Me

This is my first time trying the Konjac Sponges and I have heard good things about it so I will update you all once I have used it some more.

That’s all for me today my pretty berries. More updates to come once I can use my products some more. Don’t forget to like and comment =)

5 make-up essentials

Hi my pretty berries,

So imagine this, you’re stuck in a situation where you’re only able to take 5 items from your make-up collection. This doesn’t include tools or anything like that but just make-up products in general.

What would you pick? Well, here are my Top 5 make-up essentials that I absolutely need to go further in life.

1. Chapstick/lip balm – Burt’s Bees Lip Balm                                                                                burts beesI cannot live without my lip balms and I generally like all kind of moisturizing lip balms but one of my all-time favourites are the Burt’s Bees Lip Balms. Even though I have tons of different lip balms like TONS! I always find myself going back to this every single time. It keeps your lips moisturized and it doesn’t smell funky. If in doubt, Vaseline always works too.

2. Concealer – Mac Pro Longwear Concealer

prolong wear concealer

In love with this concealer! that’s that, I just couldn’t stop using my Mac Pro Longwear Concealer for blemishes and my dark circles. It literally stays on all day and it doesn’t really need to be set with powder but I do anyway (force of habit..) I gotta say though that it sets pretty quickly and the pump deposits too much product than what I would need but I can look pass that because the concealer inside is the bomb diggity!!

3. Face powder/Foundation – Bare Minerals Loose Powder

bare minerals

If I ever get in a situation where I can only pick ONE item as my foundation then I would definitely go for the powder version. It has a more light finish and gives it that “no make-up make-up look” and it also controls the oils in my face. I have used the Bare Minerals Loose Powder for 2 years and I never had any problems with it. In fact, it is my go-to foundation if I’m having a bad skin day or breaking out because I know my skin is not sensitive to the Bare Minerals Line and I know that my skin won’t get any worse.

4. Eye brow pencil – Maybelline Define-A-Brow

AAAhhh eyebrows…I have to fill in my eyebrows…Correction: I MUST FILL IN MY EYEBROWS! It just completes me and I have a slight obsession with it. The Maybelline Define-A-Brow is a perfect dupe for the Anastasia pencil that they sell for like $20+ dollars and I am just not willing to spend that much money especially when I know I have to re-purchase them so often. At least, the one I use is under $10 and can be found in most drugstores.

5. Mascara – Lancome Hypnose Drama – Instant Full Body Volume

I saved the best for last and I know it’s a bit hypocritical of me to pick a high-end mascara when I just mentioned that the Anastasia Eyebrow pencil is not worth the money BUT hear me out, I just haven’t found the ultimate mascara in the drugstore that I can honestly say I love and would repurchase because to be honest I have tons of drugstore mascaras and none really stood out to me compared to my Lancome Hypnose Drama. It does everything I need it to do; from lengthening to volumizing all while making it look not so clumpy and spidery looking. It is also very very black and holds my curl very well. In conclusion, I think it is worth the money just until I find a cheaper alternative.

Okay! That’s it for me today and I hope everyone’s 2015 is starting off really good and let me know what would be your essential make-up products you absolutely cannot live without. I love reading all your comments and your “likes” absolutely makes my day!=D See you on my next blog post.

Long lasting red lips

Hello my pretty berries,

I don’t know about you but there is nothing worse than having red lips “feathering” and transferring when eating or smooching and worse of  all when you have to keep re-applying 10 times  throughout the day. I thought I would share with you what I do when I use any red lipsticks because it’s such a statement look without doing too much. Technically, you can do this technique with pretty much any colour of lipstick but I do find myself going the extra step only when I use a darker shade of lipstick.

First, I picked some top red shades from high end to drugstore products. Also, you will need a lip liner, preferably something long lasting just like the Annabelle waterproof lip liner in Boisenberry. As for the lipstick, anything will do just fine. I just have here the Wet n Wild in Stoplight red, Revlon Colorburst in Crimson, Hour Glass in Icon and Nars in Dragon Girl.

Left to right: Anabelle Lipliner, Nars, Hourglass, Wet N Wild, Revlon

Then, you will need some type of translucent powder. I just have the Bare Minerals – Original Mineral Veil. I just use my finger to dab some of the product onto my lips until it is not sticky or “wet” anymore. You can test this by kissing your arm and if there are any red colour that transferred that means you have to add some more powder.

Your lips should look a little bit like the photo below. The flash of the camera kind of made it look glossy but it is matte and non-transferrable. It is definitely a lot longer lasting than just applying your lipstick but it’s not a tattoo either so at some point it will start to fade but not as fast.
